US major indices tumble led by the NASDAQ index

Major US stock indices reverse gains from yesterday and then some.

  • Dow Industrial average fell -537.12 points or -1.30% at 40813.81.
  • S&P index fell -77.81 points or -1.39% at 5521.49.
  • NASDAQ index fell -345.44 points or -1.96% 17303.01
  • Russell 2000 fell -32.77 points or -1.62% at 1993.69

The S&P index is now down -10.18% from it’s all time high. The NASDAQ index is down -14.35%.

For the trading week with one day to go:

  • Dow industrial average -4.64%
  • S&P index, -4.31%
  • NASDAQ index -4.91%. That is it worst week since September 3, 2024.

Concerns about tariffs continue to dominate. Hopes for peace in Ukraine is also a concern. Treas. Sec. Bessent spoke today and did not calm the markets.
