Companies are reporting a hit to demand from the<br \/>\nadditional uncertainty and cost of living impact generated<br \/>\nby the conflict. Travel, transport and tourism related<br \/>\nissues are compounded by financial market jitters and<br \/>\naffordability constraints, notably including concern over<br \/>\nthe impact of higher interest rates, surging energy prices<br \/>\nand supply chain delays.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cCompanies are meanwhile building safety stocks amid<br \/>\nconcerns that the war may lead to more protracted<br \/>\nsupply issues and price rises while trimming headcounts<br \/>\nto reduce overheads.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe PMI data are indicative of GDP rising at an<br \/>\nannualized rate of just 1.0%, with a modest 1.3%<br \/>\nexpansion signalled for the first quarter as a whole.
