The latest decline has shifted the focus squarely onto the swing lows from late June and early July. Initial support was at $3,962, followed by the 2026 cycle low at $3,942.43. Those levels have now been broken, increasing the bearish momentum. If sellers can keep the pressure on, the next major downside target comes in near $3,886.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Technically, the bears have been firmly in control for several weeks. Since peaking on July 5, gold has remained below a downward-sloping trend line, with rallies on July 7, July 10, July 14, and July 15 all failing against that resistance. Tuesday&#8217;s rally was also rejected at the 200-hour moving average, reinforcing the bearish outlook. Today, even the 100-hour moving average capped the recovery attempt, showing that sellers continue to defend every meaningful bounce.<\/p>\n<p>For the technical picture to improve, buyers need to reclaim several key resistance levels. The 100-hour moving average at $4,046, the descending trend line near $4,069, and the falling 200-hour moving average around $4,082 all stand as significant hurdles. A move back above those levels would begin to shift the bias away from the bears. Before then, more immediate resistance is found near $4,021, defined by the July 8 swing low and today&#8217;s earlier intraday low.<\/p>\n<p>For now, the sellers have the technical advantage.
