TRUMP<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As a former wildland forest fire fighter myself, who also was deployed to help the United States battle fires, this is quite a week for stupidity.<\/p>\n<p>The north of Canada is almost completely uninhabited and there are no roads. The size of it is beyond comprehension and it&#8217;s nearly completely covered in boreal forest, which means it&#8217;s coniferous and that&#8217;s a type of tree that easily burns when it&#8217;s dry.<\/p>\n<p>There is no amout of &#8216;forest management&#8217; that anyone can do to prevent fires and once they&#8217;re up and burning,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Incredibly, two fires in Minnesota today crossed into Canada today.\u00a0The Bear Trap Fire in the BWCA now 34,422 acres, crossing into Ontario. The other fire that crossed into Canada is the Thumb Fire, now 15,300+ acres.
