That\u2019s<br \/>\n        why we saw the greenback selling off across the board following the<br \/>\n        announcement. <\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>In the long-term, long-term<br \/>\n        yields are driven by monetary policy as they are just the average expected path<br \/>\n        of short-term interest rates over the life of the bond plus a term premium, but<br \/>\n        they are more sensitive to changes in economic outlook. <\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>The focus will now shift to<br \/>\n        the Federal Reserve and Warsh&#8217;s speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium next week.<br \/>\n        I was expecting it to be a non-event given Warsh&#8217;s preference of not giving<br \/>\n        forward guidance and the fact that the soft NFP and CPI reports eased Fed<br \/>\n        tightening concerns. After the Treasury buyback announcement, though, the<br \/>\n        speech could actually be a market-moving event.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>If Warsh doesn&#8217;t lean<br \/>\n        against the easing in financial conditions, the current &#8220;debasement&#8221;<br \/>\n        trades like long precious metals, bitcoin and short US dollar will likely<br \/>\n        extend further. On the other hand, if he pushes back saying things like &#8220;recent<br \/>\n        easing in financial conditions, if sustained, could complicate the process of<br \/>\n        returning inflation to our target&#8221; or &#8220;if recent easing threatens<br \/>\n        progress toward price stability, we will not hesitate to respond<br \/>\n        appropriately&#8221; and so on (I cannot know the exact words beforehand,<br \/>\n        unfortunately), the market may interpret it as a signal for a potentially<br \/>\n        hawkish September FOMC and trigger pullbacks in the &#8220;debasement&#8221;<br \/>\n        trades.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>CAD:<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>On the CAD side, the US-Canada<br \/>\n        deal optimism after Wednesday\u2019s extension of talks gave the loonie a boost,<br \/>\n        which was then exacerbated by broad US dollar weakness. The USD\/CAD pair fell<br \/>\n        into a key support zone around the 1.3750 before bouncing into Friday\u2019s close<br \/>\n        on profit-taking and possibly some hedging into the weekend. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>Unfortunately, the <a href=\"https:\/\/investinglive.com\/news\/us-canada-trade-talks-collapse-as-50-tariffs-take-effect-carney-vows-retaliation\/\" style=\"color: rgba(70, 120, 134, 1); text-decoration: underline\" rel=\"follow\">talks<br \/>\n            collapsed and US imposed 50% tariffs<\/a> on about $20bn of Canadian goods, with<br \/>\n        Canada\u2019s PM Carney vowing \u2018dollar-for-dollar\u2019 retaliation from September 8. The<br \/>\n        delayed retaliation might be keeping a door open for further talks, but for<br \/>\n        now, the Canadian dollar might stay on the backfoot as markets reprice the outcome.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0 0 11px; line-height: 105%; font-family: Aptos, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">USDCAD TECHNICAL<br \/>\n        ANALYSIS \u2013 DAILY TIMEFRAME<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>On the daily chart, we can<br \/>\n        see that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/USDCAD\/\" style=\"color: rgba(70, 120, 134, 1); text-decoration: underline\" rel=\"follow\">USDCAD<\/a>dropped into the 1.3750<br \/>\n            support zone following the US Treasury buyback announcement and US-Canada deal<br \/>\n            optimism. The price bounced into Friday\u2019s close on profit-taking and opened the<br \/>\n            week higher as the trade talks collapsed. The natural target for the buyers<br \/>\n            should be the resistance zone around the 1.3920 level. The sellers, on the<br \/>\n            other hand, will either wait for the price to come into the resistance or break<br \/>\n            below the 1.3750 support to target new lows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0 0 11px; line-height: 105%; font-family: Aptos, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">USDCAD TECHNICAL<br \/>\n        ANALYSIS \u2013 4 HOUR TIMEFRAME<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>On the 4 hour chart, we have<br \/>\n        a downward trendline defining the bearish momentum. We can expect the sellers<br \/>\n        to lean on the trendline with a defined risk above it to position for a drop into<br \/>\n        new lows. The buyers, on the other hand, will want to see the price breaking<br \/>\n        higher to increase the bullish bets into the 1.3920 resistance next.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0 0 11px; line-height: 105%; font-family: Aptos, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">USDCAD TECHNICAL<br \/>\n        ANALYSIS \u2013 1 HOUR TIMEFRAME<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style='margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; font-size: 16px'>On the 1 hour chart, we<br \/>\n        have a minor upward trendline defining the current pullback. The buyers will<br \/>\n        likely lean on the trendline with a defined risk below the gap to keep pushing<br \/>\n        into new highs, while the sellers will look for a break to pile in for a drop<br \/>\n        back into the 1.3750 support.
