Meta gained 11.34%—its strongest day since April 2025—amid enthusiasm for its Muse AI assistant. Intel, AMD and Arm also surged as investors considered the computing demand that widely used AI assistants could create.

Falling oil prices and easing Treasury yields provided a more favorable backdrop for growth stocks. Those moves helped the broader market, but the size of the Nasdaq’s gain shows where buyers were most aggressive.

U.S. stock closes

Dow Industrial Average: 52,054.19, up 366.04 points (+0.71%)

S&P 500: 7,764.69, up 114.18 points (+1.49%)

Nasdaq Composite: 27,122.09, up 599.55 points (+2.26%) to a record close

Russell 2000: 2,875.3602, up 14.9636 points (+0.52%)

Nasdaq 100: 30,482.35, up 838.19 points (+2.83%)

Meta’s rally spreads to chips

Meta’s move was the headline, but it was far from the only winner. The chip gains were even larger in some cases:

Meta: up about 12%, its best day since January 29

Arm Holdings: $322.90, up 17.16%

Intel: $121.81, up 12.17%

AMD: $615.52, up 9.95%. AMD crossed $1 trillion in market value during the session.

Muse’s early popularity gives investors evidence of consumer interest. It does not yet tell us how much revenue Meta will earn from that interest or how many additional chips the service will require. Traders are pricing in that potential today; the business results still need to catch up.

Technically, the price of Meta entered into a swing area betweeen $745 and $760 before backing off and closing below that are at $741.25. Getting above $760 would open the door for a run to the all time high at $796.25.

What the record close tells traders

The Nasdaq Composite’s record close is a bullish development: buyers pushed through the prior closing high and kept the index above it at the bell. The next test is whether they can stay above that breakout area in subsequent sessions. A move back below it would call the strength of the breakout into question.

That distinction matters for newer traders. A strong day can establish a bullish bias, but it does not guarantee the next day’s direction. As I explain in Attacking Currency Trends, let the price action confirm the move and use the level that defined the breakout to manage risk.

This article was written by Greg Michalowski at investinglive.com.

The Nasdaq Composite closed at a record 27,122.09, up 2.26%, as technology shares led Monday’s rally.
