The German consumer climate deteriorated further in November, owing to a sharp decline in income expectations (falling from 15.1 in October to 2.3 in November). Economic expectations showed some improvements in balancing that out, with the estimate there improving from -1.4 in October to 0.8 going into the month ahead. GfK notes that “ongoing geopolitical tensions, renewed inflation fears and growing concerns about job security are dampening hopes for a short-term recovery in consumer sentiment”.
