Atlanta Fed GDPNow downgrades Q3 growth estimate to 4.03% vs 4.31% prior

The Atlanta Federal Reserve’s GDPNow model lowered its estimate for US real GDP growth in the third quarter of 2026 to 4.03%, down from 4.31% on August 14.

Despite the downgrade, the latest estimate still points to a strong pace of economic expansion, although we still have a long way till the Q3 advance GDP report in October.

The main change came from the model’s estimate for real gross private domestic investment, with annualized growth now expected at 13.7%, down from the previous estimate of 15.2%. This weaker investment outlook was the key factor behind the overall GDPNow revision.
