HYPE token skyrockets as NYSE owner moves to bring Hyperliquid perpetual futures to US traders

HYPE token is surging after Bloomberg reported that Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, has joined forces with Trade.xyz to bring perpetual futures trading to US regulated markets using Hyperliquid’s blockchain infrastructure.

The proposed market would offer perpetual futures linked to equities, equity indexes, commodities and currencies. It would operate with its own clearing infrastructure, know-your-customer (KYC) procedures and anti-money-laundering (AML) controls, subject to regulatory approval. This represents a significant step toward bringing Hyperliquid’s onchain derivatives model into traditional US financial markets.

The partnership would significantly expand Hyperliquid’s addressable market. The platform has established itself as a major venue for onchain perpetual futures, including contracts tied to traditional assets such as oil, gold and equity indexes. Bringing these products into a regulated US framework would attract more institutional participants and additional trading volume.

Hyperliquid uses trading-fee revenue to fund purchases of its native token through its assistance fund. The proposed market should generate meaningful additional activity and contribute to the ecosystem’s economics, strengthening the bullish case for the HYPE token.

If you didn’t know, you can get exposure to Hyperliquid through Hyperliquid Strategies, the Nasdaq-listed company associated with the HYPE treasury. The stock ticker is PURR. This provides exposure through a conventional equity security. As you can see in the chart below, the stock is also surging in pre-market trading (currently up 16%).
